Meet Mississauga Chiropractor Dr. Manish Patel
“I admit, I was a skeptic,” remembers Dr. Manish Patel. “But my father insisted I go with him to the chiropractor’s office. My father was experiencing debilitating low back pain at the time and the orthopaedist’s preliminary diagnosis was nerve root compression due to disc herniation. An MRI confirming this diagnosis made him a candidate for surgery.”
“It was incredible,” continues Dr. Patel. “Over the course of treatment, the numbness and weakness that extended in to his legs began to fade. I’ll never forget how excited I was for him and the prospect of averting surgery. That’s when I decided I wanted to be a chiropractor".
Dr. Patel began his post secondary education at the University of Toronto in Mississauga (UTM) where he completed his BSc in Biology.
After completing his studies at UTM, he was accepted at the Los Angeles College of Chiropractic. During his four years at the LACC, courses included Pathology and Biochemistry, however, a major emphasis on Anatomy, Physiology, Neurology, Radiology and Adjusting technique. The college now offers a dual Chiropractic and Traditional Chinese Medicine degree and has been renamed to the Southern California University of Health Sciences (SCUHS). His clinical internship included rotations with the Rose Bowl Aquatics team in Pasadena; the California State University Center of Achievement for the Physically Disabled; volunteer work with the Being Alive HIV Clinic in West Hollywood, the Salvation Army Shelter as well as several Los Angeles area Colleges, Universities and Health Centres.
After graduating in 1999 Dr. Patel returned to the GTA. He gained valuable rehabilitation experience in several multidisciplinary clinics before taking over at Health First Chiropractic.
“We love skeptics,” smiles Dr. Patel. “I still remember the concerns and apprehension I had when I went to the chiropractor for the first time. So we make it a point to explain everything in advance, answer questions and attempt to over communicate. Patients appreciate that.”
"Enough about me….thank you for visiting our site. I hope it can be a source of hope and healing. If you have any questions, please call me or click on the Email the Doctor button at the bottom of every page.”
